Hope SJUT

St John's has a new social action student club called Hope SJUT focussing specifically on health and gender issue. It was founded by a Business student, Kipeja Benedict S., a Nursing student Lyangwa Joyce and Theology student Mtaki Venastus and was officially inaugurated on the 25th of October. The first official activities were visiting an orphan centre called the Village of Hope (Kijiji cha Matumaini) and an HIV/AIDS orphanage in Dodoma that is run by the Catholic Church. Other activities include giving seminars to the nearby secondary schools including Kikuyu Secondary School here in Dodoma.

Most of the money used so far for such activities has come from the generosity of the founding members however they are now looking for other sources to support their work.
